Hello everyone and welcome! In case you did not know, my name is Selina. This post is so officially for a couple reasons: first blog ever and first post of this new blog.
The idea of starting a blog has been bouncing around in my head for the past couple of months. Only recently was I really inspired to go forth with this idea and take the plunge. I really brainstormed on what I would even blog about, especially on the first post. Then I thought, "duh! Make introductions and explain yourself."
I can go into all the little details about myself: I love tea, Doctor Who, ice cream, indie films, Muse, and Harry Potter. Then I decided on to explain the significance of the title of my blog, "Big City-PR Dreams". Ever since the seventh grade, I knew someday I would leave my small town and find myself in the "BIG CITY". It all started during the college season of Dawson's Creek, when Joey went to college in Boston. Yes, I know the season wasn't really filmed in Boston, but the idea of a big city struck me. Naive? Definitely. However, the idea, of leaving and making it in a city, planted and started to shape me into the woman I am today. I told myself, "I won't just run off to a city; I will establish myself there. I won't just be good, I will be great." I have huge city dreams (specifically dreaming of Boston, thanks to that little seventh grader still inside) and I am striving to became that PR pro I know I can be. I'm not sure which area of PR I would like to get into, but lately I have been leaning towards crisis/political communication. Or maybe a huge entertainment PR firm so I can satisfy the movie buff in me by working the Oscars? I don't know! But that's the point of this blog: to find out and have help from fellow PR bloggers. I am looking forward to making new connections and to see what 2014 will bring for me; AND YOU! So here's to a new year and accomplishing our goals!
