So, I have been thinking about what my next post should be and I realized I have not written a post about one of the things that defines me: I AM A HUGE TV JUNKIE!!! Like seriously, I have shows-on-shows; my DVR is always recording something. Now, of course I can not write about every single TV show I love; that would be a very long post. So, I am going to describe my top 5 favorite! For times' sake, I will only be listing regular aired TV shows, with seasons beginning in the fall, and then ending sometime in April or May. However, two of my top favorite have irregular airings, but they are shows I am absolutely obsessed with so I have to list them on here! AND BEWARE: If you haven't started these shows, some spoilers may lie ahead!
SMART IS THE NEW SEXY
'The Big Bang Theory' is a comedy that airs Thursday nights 8:00PM PST. The show revolves around a group of super-smart, but super awkward geniuses that work at CalTech. Sheldon, a theoretical physicist, considered the show's breakout character, is the smartest one of the group, with graduating college while still a teenager. Leonard, an experimental physicist, the one most able to function in a social setting, is the one who most desperately wants to fit in. Howard, a Jewish aerospace engineer, fancies himself a ladies man. Raj, an astrophysicist from India, is the most socially-awkward of the group who is only able to speak to women when he is drinking (which since has changed!) Penny is an aspiring actress who lives across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon. She is a wine-loving social butterfly and the love interest of Leonard. While the guys are all brains, Penny is the brain when it comes to "regular people". The show is absolutely hilarious! The dynamics have really changed since adding Bernadette, Howard's wife, and Amy, Sheldon's sexually-starved girlfriend. The humor and the adventures these young adults go through are definitely a winner. Also, the pop culture references of comic books, Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Comic-Con are amazing. If you ever need to mellow down, or had a rough day and need a good laugh, The Big Bang Theory can do that for you.

"IT'S HANDLED!"
Ok, to all my PR nerds who secretly crave a good night-time drama that deals with politics, PR, and crisis communication, Scandal is your daily dosage. The show, a political thriller, revolves around Olivia Pope who runs a crisis management firm in Washington D.C. A Senator has a sex tape coming out? Call Olivia Pope! Caught having an affair? Child's play! Murder?? Yeah, Olivia can handle that! Olivia founded the firm after she stepped down from her White House Communications Director position, and did I mention she's having an on/off passionate affair with the President of the United States? SCANDAL! I push aside the debate that the show and Olivia Pope's character may portray the PR industry negatively; I am absolutely obsessed! Yes, Olivia Pope makes huge mistakes, but she portrays a strong, independent woman who cares for her clients, her reputation, and above all else, the people that work under her at 'Olivia Pope & Associates'. Also, she is one heck of a dresser! Caught your interest? Lets tweet about it every Thursday at 10PM PST.

TO CATCH A CRIMINAL, YOU HAVE TO THINK LIKE ONE.
Criminal Minds is currently on it's ninth season, and it gets creepier with each season. The show revolves around a team of FBI criminal profilers whose job is catch the "UnSub" or Unknown Subject. While the crime is important and so are the victims, the team believes they can catch a criminal if they focus on the Unsub, learn their methods, and try to understand its psyche. The team is one big family and the chemistry between the characters is what makes the show. What I really love about the show though is that it really doesn't focus too much on the characters' personal lives. However, when we do catch a glimpse, it is either to drive a specific meaning, to show the characters are human, and to really hit home this team is a family and they will always be there for each other. Catch it Wednesday nights at 9:00PM PST.

LIVING THE DREAM. ONE MISTAKE AT A TIME.
I was waiting for a show that would showcase all the insecurities, hopes, failures, and questions of being a twenty-something woman. It's not always fun, pretty, and glamorous; and that's what Girls shows. It hits all the gritty details of sex, friendships, relationships, drugs, STD's, and trying to find your way in this crazy world. Since it premiered back in 2012, it has since become controversial over the themes discussed and the nudity of the lead character, Hannah, who is portrayed by the creator of the show, Leah Dunham. Aside from the first season, it premieres in January at different times. I used to watch it at 8:00PM PST, but ever since I got hooked on "True Detective" (see, told you! TV JUNKIE), I now watch it at 9:00PM PST. If you are not offended by nudity, profanity, and blunt sarcastic humor, then get hooked on Girls!

ALL OF TIME AND SPACE!
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you my favorite show of ALL TIME! No, I am not being dramatic and no pun was intended. I am completely in love with this show and have proudly declared myself as a 'Whovian', a Doctor Who fan. The show is about a man who travels throughout time and space. He can go anywhere in his spaceship, a blue police box called a T.A.R.D.I.S. The man is called The Doctor. His name has never been revealed since it is a grave secret and a running gag throughout the show. Also, this man is an alien with two hearts who is over a thousand years old since every time he dies, he just simply regenerates into a new person: a new face, new body, new age, and new personality. The show has been running for 50 years, and just celebrated with a Fifty Anniversary Special back in November 2013. Officially, there have been 12 actors who have portrayed the time-traveling alien, with the 12th premiering later this year in his first season. Well, technically, there have been 13 actors to portray The Doctor, but that's a whole different story! I am a huge nerd, and this show has everything: friendship, adventure, drama, love, humor, heartbreak, hope, and time-traveling! The show airs on BBC America and the premiere date for the next season is TBA; all that is known is that it maybe sometime August 2014.
Well, now you know a TV Junkie's favorite shows. I have so many more which I will list below in case you are looking for new shows to watch. Please keep in mind, these are my own opinions and I only speak for myself. What are your favorite shows? Do you have any guilty pleasure TV shows? Leave a comment!
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
NBC'S Hannibal
HBO'S True Detective
NBC'S Law & Order: SVU
HBO'S Game of Thrones
HBO'S Boardwalk Empire
BBC'S Sherlock
